Like all other celebrity gatherings lately, this years Grammys was used as the perfect opportunity for these Hollywood stars to bash President Trump. While this was expected to happen on the liberal Hollywood stage, what wasn’t expected came when Trump’s nemesis and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, climbed on stage to deliver a special message to the President.
It seems like the one thing that these music celebrities have in common is not their musical carer and accomplishments, but the need to publicly trash Donald Trump. Anti-Trump agenda was under the spotlight of the Grammys or particularly, Michael Wolff’s Trump administration exposé ‘Fire and Fury.’
That was when the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the stage to ridicule President Trump by reading a few pages. She was praised by many liberal celebrities in the crowd like the rapper Snoop Dogg, Cher, and other worn off superstars in the music industry. Everything seemed to be going smooth for them until they all received the worst news of their lives, 12 hours later.
The man that they chose to make fun of, decided he also had something to say in return. And the most severe punishment was delivered to no one else, but Hillary herself.According to a report from the Fox News : Hillary Clinton’s surprise Trump-bashing cameo during the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night caused at least a couple of viewers to switch channels, namely the president’s U.N. ambassador, and Trump’s oldest son. But the producer of the Grammys said the telecast stands by the controversial cameo.
Grammys host James Corden set up a pre-taped bit about who might take home next year’s spoken word award.
“We know that our current president does love winning awards and the good news is he may just be the subject of next year’s winner [for Best Spoken Word Album],” Corden announced. “The question I’ve got is, who’ll be the narrator?”
Outspoken anti-Trump stars John Legend and Cher then auditioned to be the narrator for Michael Wolff’s book “Fire and Fury” about Trump’s White House. They literally couldn’t have found more irrelevant and unconnected venue for this skit than a musical award show. They used the media coverage and the show’s popularity to try to make fun of the President in front of the whole nation, by reading a book that was based on one man’s personal opinion towards Trump.
However, this did not go unanswered, the president himself might have something better to read in his State of the Union Address.
The report from the Fox News stated that the abstract which was read, was received with a wild applause from the audience. But the United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, wasn’t very amused and so she responded to this stunt by giving her comment on Twitter. However, her words are nothing compared to what Donald Trump Jr. had to say.
As reported by the Fox, after the Grammys, the Executive Producer of the show, Ken Ehrlich said getting Clinton to appear in the skit wasn’t tough. However, he gave Corden credit for making it happen.
He said “She kind of took a couple of days to say yes, but ultimately she saw the script, she knew what we were doing and she liked it.”
He added that Clinton recorded the segment near her home on Friday. He also said that the bit was getting some backlash, but according to what he said to reporters backstage, “We stand by what we did.”
Well since they started to read things aloud, maybe President Trump should read the long-foreseen memo which he was saving for the right time. The assumptions are that that time has come, and that the president will finally make the memo public on the SOTU, but there has been no configuration that that is true with certainty.Nevertheless, he certainly has motivation to do it, after Hillary went as far as to humiliate herself with stupid skits on stage. According to a Hannity report the skit caused the Grammys to loose 20% of their viewers.
Hannity reported :“In a night with few memorable performances or last-minute upsets, the 2018 Grammy Awards saw its television audience shrink by more than 20% as the industry’s biggest stars took turns jabbing President Trump and lecturing viewers on immigration, DACA, and more.”
“According to Deadline Hollywood, ‘Music’s biggest night’ took a ratings nosedive compared to numbers from just one year ago; with the 60th annual awards ceremony posting a measly 12.7/21 metered rating and dropping 20% from the same broadcast in 2017.”
Maybe celebrities can focus on being celebrities and stop meddling in economic and political issues. What happened to the NFL last season should serve as an example that getting involved in politics doesn’t end well for any industry which is unrelated to that field.
Time will tell whether or not the President will come out with the memo, but hopefully he will and Hillary will get her deserved justice.
